Favorite Song Of All Time

What can I say, I love M.J.  He’s the best to ever do it. Out of all of the fantastic songs in his repertoire, I Can’t Help It is my favorite, and my favorite song of ALL TIME.  As an avid song lover and writer, that’s a hard feat to accomplish within my expansive and varied tastes. Although, I have to admit, sometimes it’s hard to listen to because of all the nostalgic good memories it stirs up. Summer of 1979 – a wonderful time in my life. As an 11 year old kid, I remember it well. At 21, Michael was making his first grown up record. Even my father, who departed just a few years later, had to admit the song was gorgeous.

From the oft overlooked, Off The Wall  LP, which I still believe is his best, the lush string arrangements combined with plenty of lilting black keys take me on a faraway journey every time. Visually, it evokes a magical moonlit starry-filled night, heading towards inevitable romance. Michael belts out soothing murmurs of passionate persuasion only matched by the sublime melodic chord progressions. Of course, I can’t discuss this masterpiece and fail to mention that the songwriter is none other than the genius himself, Mr. Stevie Wonder. No surprise there, right?. Speaking of which…favorite album of all time? Songs In the Key Of Life. More on that, later…
